Daniel C. Bruck, Ph.D., LEED AP BD+C

  • Architectural Acoustics
  • Sound Systems
  • Environmental Noise Control

Dan has been a consultant in architectural and environmental acoustics for more than 20 years and has served as president of BRC since 1995.

Dan’s technical specialties are architectural acoustics design and environmental noise control, with projects that include auditoriums, industrial facilities, recording studios, schools, and performing arts facilities. His expertise also includes noise/vibration control and sound isolation for a wide range of industrial and commercial projects. He has provided expert witness testimony for a range of projects involving architectural, land use, and environmental issues.

Dan has served on the faculties of Cornish College of the Arts, the Art Institute of Seattle, and Bellevue College, and he guest lectures at Seattle Pacific University and Washington State University. His research includes concert hall acoustics from the performer’s perspective and studies of loudness perception. Dan was instrumental in the development of acoustics credits for the U.S. Green Building Council as Chair of the Acoustics Working Group, and he served as Chair for the Interior Environmental Quality Technical Advisory Group (TAG). He was a key contributor to the acoustical section and credits in the Washington Sustainable Schools Protocol (WSSP) and was a member of the working group that developed the ANSI Standard 12.60 – 2002 for acoustical design in schools. He was also a workshop participant and invited contributor to “Sound Matters — Acoustical Solutions for the Modern Office,” a General Services Administration (GSA) guiding document for office acoustics. He is a frequent contributor to technical publications, professional and technical society conferences, and continuing education programs for architects and other design professionals.

Seth Tomlinson

Senior Consultant

  • Architectural Acoustics
  • Environmental Noise Control
  • Mechanical Noise Control

Seth joined BRC Acoustics in August of 2020 as a Senior Acoustical Consultant. With extensive experience in acoustical design and building science, Seth brings a broad range of expertise to his projects. While primarily focused on architectural acoustics, mechanical noise control, and environmental noise control at BRC, his diverse professional skills also include Music/Audio Production and Vibration Analysis.

Prior to joining BRC, Seth consulted with leaders in the mass timber industry, leading a team of engineers in characterizing the vibrational properties of mass timber panels used in the emerging practice of mass timber construction of high-rise buildings. Seth has also developed novel means of processing multi-channel vibration data and of extracting damping ratios based on group delay measurements.

Seth is a member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE-USA), the Acoustical Society of America, and the Audio Engineering Society.
