BRC provided the architectural acoustical design for the recital space, practice rooms, recording studio, and choir/band room for the renovation. The band room entries were reconfigured and interior relights were redesigned to effectively control sound transmission to adjacent spaces; the recital hall acoustics were redesigned to optimize sound projection and control distracting reflections. A recording control room was designed to provide a high level of sound isolation and sound diffusion within the room for optimal listening conditions.
Our Role
Holy Names Academy is a private, Catholic, college preparatory school for girls in grades 9-12. Established in 1880 by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, the historic building underwent a major renovation in 2005 to improve sound isolation and performance acoustics, and to include studio recording capabilities.
